Lena V. Sofie (nee Passomato) of Summit, NJ passed away at her home on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the age of 93.
The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ, on Sunday, Jan. 6th, from 2 - 6 PM. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 7th, at 9:45 AM followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Summit, at 10:45 AM. Lena was born in Summit, NJ and remained a lifelong resident. She was employed as a seamstress for M & D Coat Factory in Summit for 25 years before retiring in 1975.
Lena was an active member of the St. Lucy's Society and the Rosary Society, both at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit. She was also an avid supporter of the Our Lady of the Monastery Rosary Shrine in Summit. In her leisure time, Lena enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends.
Lena is the beloved wife of the late Michael Sofie. Loving mother of Robert Sofie and his wife, Carol, of Brielle, Richard Sofie of Summit, and Michael Sofie and his wife, Carol, of East Hanover. Dear sister of Lucy Hauser of Summit. Cherished grandmother of Jesse, Marlena, and James Sofie and Deanna Marsocci and great-grandmother of Isabella Sofie and Alexandra Marsocci.
