Carmen T. Polzo of West Orange, NJ passed away on Mon, Dec. 31, 2012 at the age of 88.
Visitation will be held in Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial 7 Summit Ave. Summit, NJ on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. The funeral will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 a.m followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Teresa of Avila Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Polzo was born in Orange, NJ lived in Livingston for 10 years and the last 78 years in West Orange, NJ. He was a corporal in the US Army during World War II discharged in 1946.
Carmen was a muscian and music teacher for 70 years, retiring in 1986. He taught accordion in Bloomfield, Summit and Irvington and was a band leaser of his band for 40 years playing at Albert's Chateau, Chanticler Chateau, Meadowbrook and Summit Grand Hotel . Along with his music career, Carmen served as assistant vice-president of Montclair Savings Bank in New Providence and Cedar Grove, retiring in 1986 as well as Hudson Savings Bank, retiring in 2004.
He also served as past -president of Summit Kiwanis in 1981.
Mr. Polzo was predeceased by his wife, Patricia (nee Marano) of Binghamton, NY and a brother , Leonard Polzo. He is survived by his devoted son, Donald Polzo of Summit and his fiancée, Teresa Mendez.
